New Board Member, Mr. BRAYDEN HUNT - Western Heights

Last night, Mr. Brayden Hunt was elected by the Western Heights Community as the newest board member filling the Seat 3 vacancy. Mr. Hunt is a current teacher in Oklahoma City Public Schools, a former employee of Reaching our City (ROC), a parent, and an active member of the community advocating for the best education possible for Western Heights students and families.

When asked about his purpose of running, Mr. Hunt said, “At first, I wanted to run for office because I had the opportunity to serve the Western Heights community for more than 8 years through Reaching our City (ROC) and wanted to help create an incredible educational experience for the students and families of Western Heights, but, then when I had my own child, it became even more personal. I want to ensure that she, and all of the other students within Western Heights, have access to the best education and they are proud to be a Western Heights student.” 

Superintendent, Brayden Savage, said “I would like to extend a congratulations to Mr. Hunt as our newest board member. Additionally, I would like to thank both Mr. Hunt and Ms. Brown for running for Seat 3. Lastly, thank you to all of the community members who went out and voted to help elect a new school board member.”

Mr. Hunt shared that he believes Western Heights is uniquely positioned to lead the way in the OKC Metro area and, even the State of Oklahoma, by providing an excellent educational experience. He also believes that Western Heights can be the district that others aspire to be. He stated, “we have momentum, and now, we must stay focused and maintain a strong and specific vision for our students and community.”

“This is another exciting day in Western Heights. I am excited to work with Mr. Hunt, and the rest of the board, as we continue moving forward with restoring trust, transparency, opportunity, and hope within our community for the betterment of the students that we are very fortunate to serve,” shared Superintendent Savage.

The first meeting, with the newly elected board member, will be held on Monday, April 10th, 2023 at Winds West Elementary School within the Western Heights District.

Anoche, el Sr. Brayden Hunt fue elegido por la comunidad de Western Heights como el miembro más nuevo de la junta que ocupa el puesto 3 vacante. El Sr. Hunt es maestro actual en las Escuelas Públicas de la Ciudad de Oklahoma, ex empleado de Reaching our City (ROC), padre y miembro activo de la comunidad que aboga por la mejor educación posible para los estudiantes y las familias de Western Heights.

Cuando se le preguntó sobre su propósito de postularse, el Sr. Hunt dijo: “Al principio, quería postularme para el cargo porque tuve la oportunidad de servir a la comunidad de Western Heights durante más de 8 años a través de Reaching our City (ROC) y quería ayudar. crear una experiencia educativa increíble para los estudiantes y las familias de Western Heights, pero luego, cuando tuve mi propio hijo, se volvió aún más personal. El Sr. Hunt compartió que cree que Western Heights está en una posición única para liderar el camino en el área metropolitana de OKC e incluso en el estado de Oklahoma, al brindar una excelente experiencia educativa. También cree que Western Heights puede ser el distrito que otros aspiran a ser. Afirmó, “tenemos impulso, y ahora debemos mantenernos enfocados y mantener una visión sólida y específica para nuestros estudiantes y la comunidad”.

“Este es otro día emocionante en Western Heights. Estoy emocionado de trabajar con el Sr. Hunt y el resto de la junta, mientras continuamos avanzando en la restauración de la confianza, la transparencia, la oportunidad y la esperanza dentro de nuestra comunidad para el mejoramiento de los estudiantes a los que tenemos la suerte de servir”. Compartió el Superintendente Savage.

La primera reunión, con el miembro de la junta recién elegido, se llevará a cabo el lunes 10 de abril de 2023 en la escuela primaria Winds West dentro del distrito de Western Heights.
