New Board Member, MS. teresa lewis - Western Heights

During the regular scheduled board meeting for February, Ms. Teresa Lewis was named by the Western Heights Board of Education to fill the Seat 4 Vacancy. The Seat 4 term expires in 2024. Ms. Lewis is a retired Western Heights teacher, and is a current member of the community focused on creating opportunities for all students.

When asked why she wanted to serve on the board, Ms. Lewis shared, “I served the John Glenn community for 13 years, and feel that it was my home away from home. I want to support the community, the students, and the parents.” Ms. Lewis also shared that she hopes to bring understanding of the teachers’ perspective to the board, “I have a clear understanding of the teachers’ perspective and want to create opportunities for our students by better understanding the support we can provide to our classroom teachers.”

Board President Flatley shared, “We are incredibly thankful for all of the applicants for the Seat 4 vacancy. We are excited to work with Ms. Lewis as our newest board member. Ms. Lewis brings a unique perspective to our board. Understanding our classroom teachers and staff is a vital part of the healing of our district. We appreciate her many years of experience as a classroom teacher,  her understanding of our community, parents, and students, and her passion for education.”

Superintendent of Schools, Brayden Savage, said, “Today is another new day for Western Heights as we welcome a new board member. I am excited to work with Ms. Lewis in this new capacity.  I thank her for stepping up to serve, and to lead, within our district as a member of the Western Heights Board of Education.”

The first meeting with the newly appointed board member will be held on Monday, March 6th, 2023 at 7pm at the Western Heights Middle School.

Nuevo Miembro de la Junta, Sra. Teresa Lewis - western heights

Durante la reunión ordinaria de la junta programada para febrero, la Junta de Educación de Western Heights nombró a la Sra. Teresa Lewis para ocupar el asiento vacante 4. El término del Asiento 4 vence en 2024. La Sra. Lewis es una maestra jubilada de Western Heights y es un miembro actual de la comunidad enfocada en crear oportunidades para todos los estudiantes.

Cuando se le preguntó por qué quería formar parte de la junta, la Sra. Lewis compartió: “Serví a la comunidad de John Glenn durante 13 años y siento que era mi hogar lejos del hogar. Quiero apoyar a la comunidad, a los estudiantes y a los padres”. La Sra. Lewis también compartió que espera llevar la comprensión de la perspectiva de los maestros a la junta: “Tengo una comprensión clara de la perspectiva de los maestros y quiero crear oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes al comprender mejor el apoyo que podemos brindar a nuestro salón de clases. maestros.”

El presidente de la junta, Flatley, compartió: “Estamos increíblemente agradecidos por todos los solicitantes para la vacante del puesto 4. Estamos emocionados de trabajar con la Sra. Lewis como nuestro nuevo miembro de la junta. La Sra. Lewis aporta una perspectiva única a nuestra junta. Comprender a nuestros maestros y personal de clase es una parte vital de la curación de nuestro distrito. Apreciamos sus muchos años de experiencia como maestra de aula, su comprensión de nuestra comunidad, padres y estudiantes, y su pasión por la educación”.

El superintendente de escuelas, Brayden Savage, dijo: “Hoy es otro nuevo día para Western Heights, ya que le damos la bienvenida a un nuevo miembro de la junta. Estoy emocionado de trabajar con la Sra. Lewis en esta nueva capacidad. Le agradezco por dar un paso adelante para servir y liderar dentro de nuestro distrito como miembro de la Junta de Educación de Western Heights”.

La primera reunión con el nuevo miembro de la junta se llevará a cabo el lunes 6 de marzo de 2023 a las 7:00 p. m. en la Escuela Intermedia Western Heights.
