There are so many great things happening at Western Heights Public Schools such as the implementation of our dynamic reading program in grades PK-8, Success for All, as well as Eureka Math in our PK-6 schools! Already, we have seen reading and math scores DOUBLE in the course of a year! Additionally, all of our PK-8 school sites have an early release day every Friday to ensure proactive and informative site-based professional development with a focus on reading and math within our Component Teams. Furthermore, our weekly team/departmental collaboration opportunities will prove to help support our newest and most veteran teachers in their content areas as we focus on students and standards. More so, we have Solutions Teams that involve all school teachers and leaders in teams that focus on the whole child including Cooperative Culture Teams, Attendance Teams, Intervention Teams, Parent and Family Involvement Teams, and Community Connections Teams. Another great support found in our schools is our great Instructional Coaches. They are prepared to help all teachers with lesson planning, classroom management, and so much more! Western Heights Public Schools is focused on supporting YOU as we focus on our number one goal: STUDENT LEARNING! And we want YOU to be a part of this great adventure as we continue to soar to the Heights!
Teachers, parents, and administrators operate on a continual school improvement process. Site level teams identify indicators of student success and areas which need attention. Plans are continually monitored and revised to correspond to student needs. Western Heights provides accelerated classes, honors classes, remedial classes, an inclusive special education environment, alternative school, School to Work initiatives, NJROTC, athletics, and a variety of clubs and after school activities. The district is well known throughout the State of Oklahoma for its outstanding vocal and instrumental music programs. Athletes compete annually on the state level.
Moreover, our community consists of 2 new schools being constructed after passing a bond worth over 44 million dollars! We are extremely excited about our new STEAM High School, as well as our new, and OKC’s first public PK-8th grade dual language immersion school! We are also opening a WHPS Child Care Center in order to better support the needs of our WHPS employees. Our 5A district is surrounded by a truly supportive community. It has the feel of the big city, yet allows for the family feel that helps nurture and nourish amazing relationships that help us reach our vision of Preparing Everyone for Success in the Ever-Changing World!
We are incredibly excited and anxious to meet you, and visit with you, as you explore your career opportunities in education. If you are looking for a place of integrity and commitment, as well as a community that puts children first, the Western Heights Public Schools is the perfect place for you! We encourage and support all (bilingual) teachers, instructional coaches, athletic coaches, counselors, school psychologists, teacher assistants/paraprofessionals, and YOU to come by and share your information with us as we discover how you can be a part of our amazing schools!
