Learning Plan

If you missed the packet pick up today (April 28th), the only time that someone will be available, at the administration building, to hand out packets will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am during regular office days.

April 28, 2020

We are doing the last round of packet pick-up today.  You will see the final 3 weeks of work.  Pick up in front of administration building, 8401 SW 44th St.

9:30- 11:30am
1:00- 3:00pm

April 9, 2020

We will hand out the distance learning packets Tuesday, April14th during the following times.

9:30- 11:30am
1:00- 3:00pm

Drive to the front of the Admin building. A staff member will be out front, stay in your car, they will hand the packets to you. This will be 2 weeks of lessons, for this week and next week. Keep in mind all of the lessons can be pulled up on the website as well.

April 6, 2020

We have to delay the zoom meetings, we had some issues with setting that we are still working out, so we will start office hours next week.  The website is posted.  We are now going to have to change the way we are doing packets.  The request for packets was so large that we cannot afford to mail them all out.  These packets are for people who cannot access the website at all, take a look at the activities.  We tried to make it where you don’t need a device, just read what the site says.  There are a mixture of activities.  If you do not have access, you will need to call the administration building from 9:00 – 3:00 pm to request a printed packet.  We will only do those 2 weeks at a time.  So call 350-3410 and tell what grade levels you need.  A packet will be printed and ready next week and families will have to come to the administration building, stay in your car, and the packets will be brought to you.  Sorry for the change, we just could not afford to print and mail all that were requested.  Take a look at the website you may find that you don’t need a packet.  Remember this is for extended work (extra work to keep kids learning over the next 22 days).  Website

This is the site we will use to post the lessons.  Right now you will see the basic layout, the first week of lessons will be posted by 9:00 am on April 6th.

April 1, 2020

Last night the Western Heights School Board approved our Extended Learning Plan.  Each week we will post assignments for reading/language arts, math, science, and social studies.  Students will have the week to finish the assignments. We will provide a mixture of assignments that can be completed via an activity in the house or outside as well as digital lessons.  Some will be short videos created by staff members, some will be activities using free websites, all will be activities created by teachers for the grade level they teach. These lessons are intended to keep your child learning during the week. There is a suggested time frame for each grade level of how much time per day should be devoted to school activities.

We have tried to make this as easy as possible on families so that you are not taking on the role of teacher.  If you do not have any access at all to devices, we are providing a printed packet to those families who request it.  You must fill out this form before April 6th, in order to get a packet.

Starting April 6th, we will have the link to the resource website posted here.  New lessons are posted each week on Monday by 9:00 am. We will also have teachers available during zoom each week.  We will have the information posted for the zoom room on our resource website under each grade level.

Here are the scheduled times each day (Office Hours).  You can join at any time during the window. We will have teachers rotating each hour.  These rooms are available to ask questions about the assignments posted each week.

Monday – 8:00 am – 11:00 am
Tuesday – 10:00 – 1:00 pm
Wednesday – 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Thursday – 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Friday – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

This is new to all of us and we are sure to learn together as we go.  We care about your kids and want to make sure we are here to support their learning.  We have also included learning resources for families and have resources available for all areas such as special education, ELL, and social/emotional needs.  We are here to help.
