Approved Clubs and Activities for 2017-18
Sponsor: Amber Crump
Purpose: To offer art-related activities to students in a before-school program.
Sponsors: Diane Mathews & Joshua Bohl
Purpose: To provide each student with the best possible musical experience Students are eligible to participate in concerts and contests. Extra band rehearsals are held after school.
Sponsor: Mikayla Morgan
Purpose: To develop skills, techniques, and conditioning exercises necessary for promotion of school spirit as well as for cheerleading competitions. In addition, cheerleading teaches teamwork, goal-setting, leadership, money management, concern for others, organization, and public relations.
Purpose: To provide students with the opportunity to play the game of chess and have fun.
FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America)
Sponsor: Robyn Ramsey
Purpose: A dynamic and effective national student organization; leadership experiences focus on character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communications, practical knowledge, and career preparation.
Native American Club
Sponsor: Karen Onco
Purpose: To promote the knowledge and appreciation of Native Americans through reading, writing, and discussion of information about Native Americans through a variety of activities.
National Junior Honor Society
Sponsor: Joanne Hope
Purpose: Part of the national organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. It honors those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship.
Purpose: To promote the knowledge and appreciate of Hispanic culture in ways that students may not normally experience in the typical classroom.
Purpose: To plan and carry out school activities and service projects. Representatives are selected from each advisory class and meetings are held regularly throughout the school year.
Technology Student Association
Sponsor: Cecil Midgett
Purpose: To foster personal growth, leadership, and opportunities in technology, innovation, design, and engineering. Members apply and integrate science, technology engineering, and mathematics concepts through co-curricular activities.
Vocal Music Program
Sponsor: Ashley Wall
Purpose: Offers a variety of opportunities in vocal music education. Provides opportunities to participate in concerts and contests, including ensemble and solo contests, CODA try-outs, and a variety of other vocal music activities. Extra vocal music rehearsals are held after school.
