  • District Statements, which are issued by the district about situations that are impacting Western Heights in some capacity

9th Grade Leadership Academy

#SoaringToNewHeights: On Wednesday, November 2nd twenty-five 9th graders attended the University of Central Oklahoma Leadership Academy. This is a progressive program that strives to further develop Oklahoma 9th grade students to become leaders in their school communities. Students were chosen from those that ran for class office as well as nominated by their teachers. Through workshops, activities and discussions, students learned how to make a difference among their peers. At the closing program, scholarships are awarded to the top students who attend. Western Heights had 4 students that came home with scholarships to UCO. Amanda Gomez received a $500 scholarship and Hernan Terrazas, Ben Valle and Rahsaana Finley received $1000 scholarships. The students who attended were Taenycia Banks, Nicholas Billbury-Holmes, Tyshawn Bowen, Carmelo Burton, Dailah Colbert, Dulce Esquivel, Danay Favila, Rahsaana Finley, Amanda Gomez, Dyon Hasley, Eionna Howard, Joel Jacobo, Chosen Johnson, Aracena Martin, Marshall Olsen, Angel Ortega, Jeremy Owens, Tylynn Payne, Idaly Porras, Elizabeth Rowe, Hernan Terrazas, Riley Toledo, Ben Valle and Auron Williams.

#SoaringToNewHeights: El miércoles 2 de noviembre, veinticinco estudiantes de noveno grado asistieron a la Academia de Liderazgo de la Universidad de Oklahoma Central. Este es un programa progresivo que se esfuerza por desarrollar aún más a los estudiantes de 9º grado de Oklahoma para que se conviertan en líderes en sus comunidades escolares. Los estudiantes fueron elegidos entre los que se postularon para el cargo de clase y fueron nominados por sus maestros. A través de talleres, actividades y debates, los estudiantes aprendieron a marcar la diferencia entre sus compañeros. En el programa de cierre, se otorgan becas a los mejores estudiantes que asisten. Western Heights tuvo 4 estudiantes que regresaron a casa con becas para UCO. Amanda Gómez recibió una beca de $500 y Hernán Terrazas, Ben Valle y Rahsaana Finley recibieron becas de $1000.
